cut it out

Since these cult Balenciaga beauties emerged last year, they have spawned an array of copy cats and cut out boots are the shoe du jour. The Balenciaga originals really epitomise a contemporary take on 90s grunge perfection! Just as well with this post apocalyptic weather we are having - ahem snow in April (today) the cut out boot cannot decide whether it is a winter or summer shoe, ideal for this freak weather. I love the chunkiness but Jeffrey Campbell and Senso have created a more elegant and wearable take on the fabulous cut out boot!

REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT A ZIG-A-ZIG AHHHHHH

With the 90s grunge revival pervading the streets for the past couple of seasons, it was only a matter of time before the other cultural references of the 90s came full-circle. Therefore I am bracing myself for the return of Buffalo boots. As a 10 year old, my dad buying me a pair was one of my proudest moments..so whether it will make me cringe or swell with nostalgia for having worn them the first time around is yet to be seen! It's funny even as a kid, I thought I was too cool for the Spice Girls inane girl power nursery rhymes but I still dug the footwear! Now however, when I look back at pictures of them, I appreciate the brash in-your-face style of the Spicies, it is starting to look ironically retro, in a good way.

FLATFORMS: hot or not?

These are as the name would suggest the flat platform Geisha style shoe that look like they could incur some serious ankle damage! I find some of them quite visually offensive but think others look quite interesting and fashion forward. I think this all depends on the style of the shoe or the proportions! I really dislike the Prada creeper, the multi layer platform brogue they brought out this season, despite the fact they are wildly popular and seem to have taken the world by storm. I don't get it. I think there are some much nicer 'flatforms' on offer. Please see below!
