Romance is not dead

As Spring has sprung and I am starting to think of lace and frills as I observe the emergence of daffodils and pregnant women I can't help but think that love is in the air! With that I will let you perv on these heart melting pictures of my favourite couple of the moment: Mark Ronson and Josephine de le Baume. *sigh*

MOSCHINOOOOOOO

Absolutely love the tongue in cheek humor of this sassy campaign. It combines some unashamedly Chanel-esque styles of the 80s and 90s with the raw sex appeal of the denim clad Guess girls.

Fabby Abbey

This Aussie belle is one of my current favourites and is omnipresent on the runway and in high fashion campaigns. I love her glossy honey coloured hair, heavy fringe and nose ring. With her effervescent youth and rebellious style she is a bit like Erin Wasson meets Gemma Ward. Yum.

Deco Deyn

I've never been a huge Aggy fan, but none the less I am excited to see her acting debut in the film noir inspired short film 'Mean to me' directed by New York artist Peter McGough. Deyn plays a volatile femme fatale who has been wronged by her wealthy beau. It certainly doesn't hurt that a raven haired Agyness Deyn's 1930s style wardrobe has been designed by Zac Posen expecially for the project. I'm sure it will be a visual treat in the same way as Tom Ford's 'A Single Man' - it appears to mark the start of a new craze for designers trying to get their creations on film.

McQueen's Final Collection

Fashionistas worldwide bid Alexander McQueen farewell last week with the presentation of his final collection. The collection summoned a sense of true oppulence of another era, reminiscent of Royalty or even Papal garments. McQueen's use of rich red with elaborate gold patterns seemed to symbolise influences of Baroque or Rococo style. This was directly fused with the digital prints and gothic undertones of today. The collection seems to creatively defy the fact that we are in recession. The stand out piece from the collection appears to be the fishtail dress with the jacket made from gilded feathers. However I think my favourite piece is the back and gold dress and cape; it would transform anyone into Wonder Woman. To be invited to this unweiling would cement you as a heavyweight of the fashion industry. I can't imagine what a privilege it would be to witness this beautiful and poignant 16 piece collection first hand. Rest in Peace Lee McQueen.

*Gaga for Gaga*

This is the most lavishly creatively inspired slice of genius I have seen in a while. It has heightened my love for Gaga (and Beyonce) to it's absolute pinnacle. And all thanks to a gratuitously sexual and ridiculously self indulgent music video. It more than makes up for the lacklustre but insanely catchy tune which is by no means up to the Lady or Mistress B's habitual hit making ability. I will also forgive them both for the shameless promotion of Virgin as Mr Branson probably paid for the Lady's creative genius to flourish. I am super excited as this morning I bought myself and a friend a ticket to Gaga's sell-out show at London's O2 arena. I then watched this lengthy Taratino-esque music video and it left me with little doubt that her concert is going to be one hell of a show. Die Hard little Monster 4Ever!

lilac lovelies

If there is anything I can't get enough of at the moment it's lilac. I have already bought the new Essie nail polish in lilacism and cannot wait for tanned hands and toes to apply it. The lilac puff shouldered Burberry Prorsum mac sent my heart into a racing flutter, along with ladies all over the world I'm sure. My favourite red carpet dresses of late have all been in this heavenly shade. Not least Zoe Saldana in her Givenchy Couture dress of dreams at yesterday's Oscars...

BIT OBSESSED

Not gonna lie. This could probably keep me dancing in my room by myself for a long old time...

Top-Notch Topknots

Lately the return of the high bun on the catwalks and red carpets has added a touch of glamour to the everyday practical hairstyle. This sweet 'do' is a chance to focus on make up and neckline of a beautiful dress as all of the focus lies on the face and shoulders. We have had oversized bows, feathers and hair accesories galore, little braids and loose side plaits, as well as grungey locks and teenage dye jobs. Now the topknot is the hottest hairstyle to rock this Spring. What do you think?

battle of the knuckle-duster

Big bold chunky rings are one of my greatest passions in life! I cannot get enough of a two-finger ring of 3 small pewter skulls I bought before Christmas in a Bangkok night market. Here are some of the cool ones I've recently scoped out..

2. 3 finger ring by Vivienne Westwood

3. Moustache ring by Mr Kate

4. Skull knuckleduster by Alexander McQueen

WONDERLAND MANIA

I'm toying with the idea of throwing a mad-hatter's tea party in time for the release of 'Alice in Wonderland.' I am already salivating at the thought of the costumes, make-up and set. Those crafty kingpins of consumerism never miss a trick and many designers have caught onto the 'Alice' craze in time to launch limited edition ranges of their products. The Alice inspired products below are making me smile like a cheshire cat (sorry - couldn't resist!)

The Pinko Show

Any campaign which stars Erin Wasson is fine by me. The edgy Texan beauty is perfect as the face of the Italian brand. The most recent Pinko campaign for Spring/Summer 10 seems to share its aesthetic with this season's Balmain. All khaki utilitarian combats with embellished shoulders and killer shoes. Nude tones and sexy black lace for the army girl with a touch of sparkle. Most of all I love Erin's expression in the pictures of "What? You don't look like this when you're getting dressed in the morning?"
